The two main premises for the design of the care hotel for the not-for-profit association UZA Monica were its integration in the surroundings and the building’s energy efficiency. The compact, six-tiered cube creates maximum space for the hospital logistics on the ground floor level – and more importantly – allows the hospital to be embedded in the surrounding green landscape. The building has been positioned as such that it connects with the existing volumes on the urban planning level. Thanks to its integration in the existing green slope and its orientation the restaurant, which is located on the first floor, now has a south-facing terrace with a view of the surrounding area, without the disruptive effect of the street. The entrance hall occupies two levels. The wellness facilities and real hotel atmosphere and the attention to accessibility guarantee a pleasant stay in this care hotel.
